Royal Wedding Prince William and Kate Middleton

Britain's Prince William marries his fiancee Katherine Middleton at London's Westminster Abbey on Friday. Here are the key points about the schedule, guests, security, menu and the wedding dress.

SCHEDULE
The marriage ceremony begins in Westminster Abbey,
The first of the 1,900 guests begin to arrive from 8:15am (0715 GMT); William at 10:15am (0915 GMT), Queen Elizabeth II at 10:45am (0945 GMT).
Having spent the night at The Goring luxury hotel near Buckingham Palace, Kate Middleton and her father Michael depart at 10:51am (0951 GMT).
The ceremony ends at 12:15pm (1115 GMT). The newlyweds will travel in a procession to Buckingham Palace. Five carriages will carry the royal family and the Middletons for the 15-minute journey taking them past the Houses of Parliament and Downing Street then along The Mall, the processional route to the palace.
The couple will appear on the palace balcony at 1:25pm (1225 GMT) and likely kiss for the crowds.
Some 650 guests are invited to the palace for a buffet lunch, which lasts until mid-afternoon.
Around 300 people will stay on for formal dinner that evening, with a disco going on through the night.

GUESTS
A total of 1,900 people have been invited to the ceremony. Around 40 foreign royals received invitations along with footballer David Beckham and singer Elton John. But also making the list are the butcher, postman and pub landlord from the Middletons' home village of Bucklebury.
The selection process has not been without controversy: the crown prince of Bahrain, whose country has been criticised for its violent crackdown on pro-democracy protesters, declined his invitation but human-rights groups have denounced the presence of dignitaries from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Swaziland.
The media also focused on the absence of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, the two Labour party predecessors of current Prime Minister David Cameron.
Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher will not be attending due to ill health but her Conservative successor, John Major, will be present.

SECURITY
More than 5,000 police will be deployed, according to London's Metropolitan force.
Although the force said they had "no specific intelligence about any security threat", the British terror threat level has remained at "severe" for over a year, meaning an attack is "highly likely".

MENU
Very little is known about what food and drink will be consumed throughout the day, but it is certain that two cakes will be on offer.
Firstly, the essential fruit cake -- ordered from celebrated patissiere Fiona Cairns -- which will be decorated with 16 flowers symbolizing, among other things, happiness (the rose), tenderness (the lily) and marriage (ivy).
Next to the wedding cake will be a more humble chocolate cake favoured by Prince William, made using the famous McVitie's "tea biscuits".

THE DRESS
Another state secret, the wedding dress has been the subject of fervent speculation.
The media named Sarah Burton, artistic director at Alexander McQueen, as the chosen designer but the fashion house denied the reports.
US website huffingtonpost.com speculated on British Libelula designer Sophie Cranston while the Daily Mail reported that Kate had designed her own dress.

Ashmit-Veena break up

Their affair started on a reality show house in front of an ogling audience. They fought, had ego hassles, and then made up on prime time television. Veena Malik, Indian televisions latest import from Pakistan and Ashmit Patel of the infamous MMS became reality television’s stars. The affair, which continued post the show with Veena delaying her return to her country, has just gone kaput. Uninvited for Ashmit’s sister Ameesha Patel’s big party held on Saturday, a very upset Veena left the city on Friday.
The affair had started to fizzle out long before that. , “It was a one-way affair from Veena’s side. She loved him, but he did not. I would say that they were never together,” says a friend of Ashmit.
Things started getting worse when Ashmit learned about Veena planting stories about them in the media. “This really bugged him. Ashmit didn’t want that kind of publicity,” informed Ashmit’s friend.
The couple however, did try to get lucky with their relationship while it was. When approached with a reality show offer worth Rs 30 lakh, the couple tried believing they were worth more, asked for Rs 50 lakh. The channel officials felt otherwise.
Despite everything, a friend close to both Veena and Ashmit claims they are friends, adding “Lekin pehle jaisa nahin hai.”

Indians don't need films to watch sex: Ekta Kapoor

Bored of the idiot box, TV tzarina Ekta Kapoor is fearlessly entering the bedroom space with films such as Love Sex Aur Dhokha, Ragini MMS and Dirty Picture. But she says titillating the audience is not her agenda as Indians don't have to go to movie theatres to watch sex.
'There is lovemaking, but there is no sex in our films,' said  Ekta.

'I personally believe in our country, if you want to see sex, you can go online and download it for free. Why would somebody pay Rs.50 or Rs.100-Rs.200 for a movie ticket just to watch sex?'

Referring to her movies, she said: 'There is no sex in these films. But in none of these films do we run away from sex. They have just been labeled titillating. When I made TV shows, people called them regressive. Clearly, everyone wants to generalise everything.

In 2010, Ekta launched ALT Entertainment, a sister concern of her Balaji Telefilms Ltd, to cater to upwardly mobile young Indians with television and film content.

She released Dibaker Banerjee's bold and explicit project Love Sex Aur Dhokha under the banner, and realised there is a definite market for subjects and treatment that are closer to reality.

So now comes Ragini MMS, about a couple who go for an adventurous weekend and get filmed by 24 cameras amid some paranormal activity. This will be followed by Dirty Picture, which traces the life of sex icon Silk Smitha.

'I choose a mid path. I can easily tell you that none of these films is high on sexuality. In fact a lot of our Hindi films where they show dupattas flying and deep cleavage, have a lot more sexuality. The difference is that they show it in a covert, more hidden way. But actually it is much more titillating,' said the daughter of Bollywood's veteran star Jeetendra.

Caught in an unusually fun-loving mood at a hotel here, Ekta broke into guffaws the moment the stark contrast between her family-oriented dramas and the films was pointed out. She is after all known for soaps such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki.

'I am a living contradiction. I am chalk and cheese. Expect the unexpected from me! I can easily manage the two sides because I am a Gemini - a woman of all moods - I am Bohemian and conservative,' she said.

But 35-year-old Ekta, who kept fiddling with the many threads and bracelets worn on her left wrist for superstitious reasons, finally gave the reason behind the films.

'I was getting extremely tired with television. I love my television but I was getting bored doing the same thing over and over again. And I didn't want to go niche on television. Niche on TV is not allowed because audience for TV is so large.

'I can't monitor and I can't give advice as to who should be watching what on TV. So I didn't want to get experimental. I would never show something on TV which I am not comfortable watching with my parents or grandparents.

'I could have never had any kind of creative freedom on TV; so then I did movies! Now, I am able to do all kinds of entertainment and that, I feel, is the biggest blessing!' she added.

And not one to mince words, Ekta readily admits that Ragini MMS is definitely not the kind of movie she would watch with her parents.

It is 'strictly for youngsters!' she exclaimed.
